It is a unique, critically acclaimed Talmudic study system, which teaches learning skills for Gemara study. Someone who uses this system properly will be able to develop all the necessary skills needed to eventually learn Talmud independently, in much less time than other conventional systems. It will enable the student to dive into the incredible world of Talmud in a way he never thought possible. top of page
There are three components to the "Fundamentals of Talmud" system:
This is not a "three easy steps to Gemara learning" system, or some kind of "instant Gemara learning pill"; such things do not exist. Achieving the desired results will require effort, time and motivation. However, "Fundamentals of Talmud" will give you a proven methodology and systematic approach by which you can accomplish this incredible goal, within a reasonable time frame. top of page
As of present, the Fundamentals of Talmud system is on the entire 4th chapter of Masechet Brachot. Additionally, the program is being prepared for part of the 2nd chapter of Masechet Bava Metzia, but is not quite ready yet. Both of these chapters are very commonly learned in many Yeshivot. top of page
Yes. There are comprehensive word translation lists, and numerous translation/reading exercises to build up these skills. One needs only to have a rudimentary ability to read Hebrew in order to use the program. One needs no previous Gemara background either. top of page
The answer to this question depends on many factors- how much time one can devote to it, the aptitude of the individual student, and, most importantly, the motivation to succeed. Generally speaking, however, experience has shown us that if one consistently devotes even as little as 20-30 minutes daily, he will see stunning results within even a few weeks.
If one follows the program properly, one can go from a raw beginner to a serious student of Talmud within 6-7 months. There have even been several students who became totally independent in learning (to the point that they can take any regular Vilna-edition Gemara and learn it themselves!) through using this system. The key is consistency and effort. top of page
